Alice Lee Jackson

February 17, 1947 — April 22, 2015

Alice Lee Jackson, age 68, peacefully passed away while surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri.
Alice Lee Fowler was oldest of two daughters born to Edward and Arvenia Fowler in Versailles, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Herbert Jackson in 1965 and they had two children; Phillip Edward Jackson, who preceded Alice in death in 1986 and Brian Lee Jackson of Tipton, Missouri. Alice was also preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister Barbra Fowler, of Dallas, Texas.
Later in life, Alice discovered she had a passion for working with the elderly. She became an Ombudsman Coordinator for the Central Missouri Agency on Aging where she helped and cared for the elderly in nursing homes. Alice often stated that she wished she had discovered her love for serving the elderly earlier in life. Alice's duties as a caregiver for the elderly allowed her to gain many friends from one side of Missouri to the other. Alice always hoped that she could make a difference in this world . . . her ability to love, care, and serve her family, friends, and the elderly without complaint and with a constant smile proved that she indeed made a difference in the lives of everyone she met.
Alice Jackson was a devout Christian woman of faith who was baptized at an early age. She was an active member of the 5th Street Christian Church in Columbia, Missouri. She is now at home with her Lord reuniting with loved ones that she missed and couldn't wait to see again.
Alice will be truly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. However, Alice has always said that death should not be a time for feeling sad, but instead, a time for celebrating the eternal life one spends with the Lord and loved ones in heaven. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Prairie Grove Baptist Church in Tipton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and immediately following a Going Home Celebration. A private burial with her family will be at the Versailles Cemetery.
While Alice is gone from our sight you must remember that she will never be far from our hearts or memories.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being set up for the Central Missouri Agency on Aging Ombudsmen Program in honor of Alice Lee Jackson.
