Adam Eugene "Gene" Shireman

Adam Eugene "Gene" Shireman, age 60, of Houstonia, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
He was born March 14, 1951, in Sedalia, a son of Archie and Nellie Walters Shireman. On June 7, 1973, Gene was united in marriage to Leslie Simons at the Hughesville Baptist Church. Leslie survives at their home.
He was a graduate of Northwest High School in Hughesville and State Fair Community College in Sedalia, receiving an Associates degree in Farm Management.
He served his Country in the United States Army from 1971-1972.
Gene lived in the Hughesville-Houstonia area his entire life. He was a lifelong farmer, working the family farm since 1976.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing Texas Holdem', visiting with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by two sons, Adam Travis Shireman of Houstonia and Trenton Lee Shireman and wife Myra of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren, Tori, Leyton, Colton, Anessa, Alyse and Ciara, one sister, Pam Morrow and husband Denzil of Russellville; five brothers, Lloyd Shireman and wife Pat of Houstonia; Archie Shireman, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Sedalia; David Shireman of Tempe, Arizona; Danny Shireman of Sedalia and Rick Shireman and wife Janice of Sedalia; his mother-in-law, Sally Simons of Springfield; also nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dennis Dean and Clarence Robert "Bob" Shireman, and his father-in-law, Harvey Simons.
A private family service will be held. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice, 2305 South Highway 65, Marshall, MO 65340.
