Eddie Galbraith, age 61, of Versailles passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Care Center surrounded by family.
It was on the 9th day of March in 1962 when Jerry and Jennie (Randall) Galbraith welcomed their son Eddie into their home in Silverton, Oregon.
Eddie spent his early years working as a jack of all trades, but mainly doing logging and construction. He also enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and chopping wood. Spending time with his nephews was very important to him.
He loved to listen to Hank Williams, Jr. He also liked going to old car shows and looking through old car and Harley magazines.
Eddie was in a life-changing accident in 1988. After his accident he became a softer version of himself, to know him was to love him. Even after his accident he still had an ornery streak a mile wide, and that is how his family will remember him. He lived with his mom for many years and eventually moved into his "apartment" at the Good Shepherd Care Center. He loved living there. He enjoyed being able to participate in the activities and visit with other residents and staff. He liked to visit the casino, play bingo, and go bowling. He attended bible study every week and always went to church on Sundays. Eddie loved God. Everyone that met him after his accident would describe him as always happy. As much as he cared for everyone there, when he saw his family, he would light up. He loved visiting with family. Eddie was known as the baby gender whisperer. He was only wrong on two genders in the family over the past 35 years.
Left to carry on his legacy is his sister, Kathy Holden of Stover; his brother, Darrell Galbraith of Mora; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ronda Galbraith, Debbie Lindsay, and an infant sister, Diana Galbraith; and a nephew, Travis Galbraith.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Cemetery in Florence.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Union Cemetery.
