Don Harold Humpherys, age 73, passed away peacefully in Blackfoot, Idaho on July 2, 2023
Don was born in Shelley, Idaho to Rayo V. and Leora May Humpherys on January 27, 1950. After graduating from Shelley High School he married Linda Chavis. To this union were two sons born, Larry (Blackfoot, Idaho) and Marcus (Springville, Utah).
Don enlisted in the Air Force in 1969, working as a plumber. He served tours of duty in Vietnam, receiving numerous citations. He retired in 1989 as a Master Technical First Sergeant with 20 + years of service. He was proud to wear the uniform and serve his country, along with his Air Force brothers.
He married Carmelita Dorene Ortis in 1976 and gained another son, Joe Ricardo. They ultimately settled in Sedalia, Missouri, where he and Carmen worked together as a long-haul truck driver for Lowes. Carmen passed away in 2020 and Don relocated to Blackfoot, Idaho.
Don enjoyed tooling leather and socializing at the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars Center) where he served as Chaplain.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, his parents and siblings, Leora May, Lee J. and Max.
He leaves behind his sons, Joe, of Egg Harbor New Jersey; Gary of Blackfoot, Idaho; Marcus of Springville, Utah; grandsons, Brody, Benjamin , Samuel, and Jesse, all of Springville, Utah; and granddaughter, Andrea of Blackfoot, Idaho; as well as siblings Rayo “Bud”, Joe D. and Dee.
A Celebration of Life and military rites will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri.
