Benita Marie Knight, 93, of Stover, MO, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at her home, surrounded by family.
Benita was born April 2, 1929, in Burlington, KS, a daughter of William Christopher and Mary Myrtle (Ferris) Kellum, who preceded her in death.
She married the love of her life, Otis Irving Knight on January 10, 1946, in McPherson, KS. Otis preceded her in death on June 12, 2018.
Benita and Otis moved their family to central Missouri, where they raised cattle, hogs and poultry. They loved taking trips with their family to most of the lower 48 states, along with Hawaii, Canada and Old Mexico. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and was a wonderful cook. Her family loved her famous peach cobblers. Benita loved her family with all her heart. She knew Jesus as her personal Savior and was the spiritual rock of her family. She made sure to take her children and grandchildren to Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Stover, where she was a member.
Benita is survived by five children and their spouses, Larry E. and Linda Knight of Tipton; Beverly M. Tannehill of Warsaw; Janet R. and David Goodwin of Camdenton; Brenda J. Schultz of Versailles and Michael A. and Jenny Knight of Stover; ten grandchildren, Mary, Jerry, Mark, David, Karen, Stephen, Eric, J.D., Brandi, and Ashley; twenty-two great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Benita was preceded in death by four sisters, Verna Brosmer, Ruby Germann, Dot Duncan, and Billie Inloes; one brother, Bud Kellum; and two sons-in-law, Carl Tannehill and Dutch Schultz.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the Stover First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Roe, officiating.
Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Downs Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City.
Arrangements are in the care of Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Stover, MO.
